You can create keyboard shortcuts to open you favourite applications rather than using the old way of double clicking the icon and opening it. Just assign their shortcut on you keyboard and open the app as mentioned ..
- Right click on the desktop shortcut of the application for which you want to assign the keyboard shortcut.
- Select " Properties " from the menu that appears.
- Under the " Shortcut " tab, click in the " Shortcut Key " textbox which displays " None ", until you press any key.
- Press the desired key on the keyboard that you want to use as the shortcut and the computer will automatically assign the combination Ctrl + Alt + "the key entered by you".
- Press " OK " and the keyboard shortcut will be assigned to that application.
Some important points to remember while assigning a shortcut :
- Keys Like "Esc , Backspace , Print screen , Tab , Spacebar , or shift " cannot be used to create a keyboard shortcut.
- Before assigning a keyboard shortcut, verify that the shortcut is not being previously used for any other application.
